Status check failed on EC2 instance created from AMI – AWS system manager

One of my EC2 instances (SAP on Windows) did not come up after I tried to create it from a custom AMI. Error message I got was “1 out of 2 status checks failed”.

Tried to attach the boot volume to other dummy EC2 instance but that did not help.

AWS to the rescue again:

AWS System Manager script was the tool to fix the issue.

AWS rescue

This creates a dummy EC2 instance, corrects the problem and terminates the resources automatically.
